Future Pathways
EmploymentA graduate of this programme will be sufficiently skilled for entry level positions across a wide range of sectors. Achievement of this qualification demonstrates ability to commit to achieving an outcome, and confirms essential information literacy skills.
Further Study
Holders of this qualification will be able to progress to study or training at NZQF Level 3, at polytechnics and Private Training Establishments. This qualification leads naturally on to the NZ Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 3) which is specifically focused on obtaining skills for higher level learning in the tertiary sector.
Graduate Outcomes
This programme enables tauira to develop information, literacy and numeracy skills in a relevant context. Tauira will acquire learning and life skills while achieving credits toward NCEA L2 as a pathway to higher level education. The main focus is on information skills (deciding, finding, using, presenting), literacy (communicating through writing, reading, speaking),and numeracy (numbers, statistics, measurement) skills, and problem solving, in a relevant context.The successful graduate will, in summary, be able to:
- Search, comprehend, use and communicate information from a variety of texts and digital media relevant to the context
- Apply basic knowledge, including literacy and numeracy skills, to solve problems relevant to the context.
- Reflect on experiences with a range of people, cultures and communities
- Work collaboratively and effectively in a team to achieve a task or outcome
- Develop and reflect on relevant learning and career goals.
