This document outlines the programme offered by VSTET Vocational Education to achieve NCEA L2 endorsed Social and Community Services Sector in the context of Childcare.With some additional Te Reo and Tikanga components learners may also achieve the New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Learning and Care (Level 2).

Future Pathways
Employment Options
A graduate of this Star school programs Dunedin will have the introductory skills and knowledge to work in an entry-level carer role in a range of early childhood education contexts, particularly in nannying roles, or in parenting roles. Graduates may also provide support for registered caregivers in a supervised environment such as an early childhood education centre.

Graduates may pathway to further study to gain:New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 3)
Graduate Outcomes
- The successful graduate will, in summary, be able to:
- Work safely and effectively in an early childhood context, whether as an employee in an early childhood setting, such as nannying or contributing to improved community and family outcomes by providing support to young family members
- Support play, feeding, and sleeping routines for children in their care, and will be aware of a range of support services and networks available to them for support
- implement a range of computing strategies which will support record keeping, information sharing, and resource development in an early childhood environment
- plan outdoor recreation and physical well-being activities.
