Construction Skills for Youth (Level 2)
* This programme is offered by VSTET to achieve the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (Level 2), with the appropriate literacy and numeracy.* The programme content and evidence requirements also enable the achievement of:* New Zealand Certificate in Building, Construction and Allied Trades -L2. With a focus on tools and materials. Achieving their construction qualification as a cross crediting process undertaken at the end of the programme and does not include any extra costs or time and effort.
Qualification Awarded Upon Successful Completion
New Zealand Certificate of Educational Achievement L2 (With the literacy and numeracy skills appropriate) New Zealand Certificate in Building, Construction and Allied Trades L2.
Future pathways
Employment
A graduate of this programme will be sufficiently skilled for entry level positions in the Building, Construction and Allied trades industries.
Further Study
Holders of this qualification will be able to progress to study or training at NZQF Level 3, with other local tertiary providers (e.g. Otago Polytechnic, Skillsec), and/or to employment with an 'earn as you learn' option.
Graduate Outcomes
Graduates from this programme will have essential skills and knowledge which may assist with future employment in the Building Construction and Allied trades context. The literacy and numeracy skills integrated throughout the programme provide the graduate with a range of strategies to organise, interpret, and communicate information more effectively in their personal life and in their place of employment. This programme will provide the graduate with the foundations to be able to make choices for improving their education and employment pathways.The successful graduate will, in summary, be able to:
  • Apply safe working practices.
  • Interpret and use project documentation.
  • Communicate effectively in context.
  • Carry out minor construction projects.
