Building and Construction Courses by VSTET

VSTET provides training and education to youth to help inspire and motivate them to reach their full potential. We offer building and construction courses to young adults who wish to pursue a career in the construction industry. Dunedin rarely runs out of demand when it comes to skilled and qualified workers. This is why the right pre-trade courses in Dunedin can open up opportunities for  youth.    Through our Construction 4 Youth Programme we can help youth to build their construction skills from the ground up. We focus on foundation skills, basic carpentry courses, and eventually move up to more advanced level courses which will gear  up for real-life work experiences.

New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills L1 & L2
In Dunedin there’s a significant number of building projects around the city including hospitals, hostels, housing,, and more. Foundation skills aim to introduce basic skills like putting together a credible resume, communication in the construction setting, and many others. Through this, learners can strengthen their core generic skills for entry into the employment sector.
Building Construction & Allied Trade for NZCFS (L1)
BCAT L1 covers a wide range of topics, such as common building and construction materials, hardware and fastening, written and oral communication skills, basic construction processes and procedures, using computers in the trade, and performing simple measurements to calculations. This programme also has a strong focus on personal and workplace safety.   Above all else, the range of hand tools and equipment needed for basic construction requires proper identification, usage, and care. The programme covers the range of essential skills and knowledge needed for the construction sector.
Building Construction & Allied Trades for NCEA (L2)
In performing construction tasks, safety is the number one priority which must be established and BCAT L2 emphasises this. When it comes to building and construction, BCAT L2 moves on from the use and identification of common materials and tools, to the mastery of different basic construction techniques. All the safety protocols in using a range of machinery and equipment will be taught and practised.   Most importantly, construction projects would not be successful without proper planning, communication, and assignment of tasks. All of this will also be taught at this level.
